Police Crack Down on Fake Content as Maha Kumbh Witnesses Unprecedented Devotee Influx

The Uttar Pradesh Police have taken strict action against misinformation related to Maha Kumbh 2025, filing 13 FIRs against 140 social media handles for disseminating misleading content.

Maha Kumbh Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna confirmed the crackdown, emphasizing that authorities are fully prepared for the upcoming Maha Shivratri festival on February 26, 2025.

“Thirteen FIRs have been registered against 140 social media handles that shared misleading content. Today, more than one crore people have taken a holy dip at Triveni Sangam,” DIG Krishna told ANI.

Massive Crowds & Enhanced Security Measures

Maha Kumbh 2025 has already witnessed record-breaking attendance, with over 8.77 million devotees taking a dip on Sunday alone. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that 620 million pilgrims have visited the Maha Kumbh Mela so far.

With Maha Shivratri expected to draw an even larger crowd, authorities are ramping up crowd control measures, security deployments, and traffic management plans to ensure smooth proceedings.

Security Reinforcements at Ayodhya Dham Railway Station

Given the huge influx of devotees, authorities have intensified security at key transit points, including Ayodhya Dham Railway Station.

“We have increased alertness ahead of the Maha Kumbh ‘snan’ on Maha Shivratri. Security has been tightened, and passengers are being managed systematically,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yashwant Singh.

Regular public announcements are being made to prevent overcrowding, and entry to railway platforms is being strictly regulated.
